Brief Bio

Dr. A. Z. M. Manzoor Rashid is a Senior Professor at the Department of Forestry and Environmnetal Science at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet, Bangladesh. Dr. Rashid led the School of Agriculture and Mineral Science as Dean (2016-2018) and the Department of Forestry and Environmnetal Science as Head in the same university.

Dr. Rashid achieved substantial working experience with local community while working in the countrys leading development organization named PROSHIKA. He achieved postgrdaute degrees in Forestry, Environment and Development and Environmdental Science from University of Chittagong (Bangladesh), Imperial College (UK) and Swedish University of Agriculture Sciences (Sweden), respectively. Dr. Rashid attained his PhD in Environmnetal Law from the Western Sydney University, Australia. With more than two decades of teaching, reserach and working experience, he has enriched himself with contemporary issues and discourses of natural resource management (NRM) particulalry focsuing policies, protected area and NRM governance and community development. Several competitive international scholarships and research funds helped him in his reserach and acdemic career. His affiliation as researcher have contributed more than 40 articles, two books and 13 book chapters.

In addition to academic portfolio, Prof. Rashid is also leading countrys reknowned conservation organization, namely Arannayk Foundation, as Chairperson of the Board of Directors. The foundation is working in diverse field of conservation with high reputaion and recognition.
