Brief Bio
Prof. Dr. Gabriela A. Oanta is Associate Professor of Public International Law at the Law Faculty, Jean Monnet Chair “European Union law of the sea”, Director of “Salvador de Madariaga” University Institute of European Studies, and Director of the European Documentation Centre at the University of A Coruña (Spain). She is Co-Convenor of the Interest Group on the Law of the Sea (SEALAW) within the European Society of International Law (ESIL), and member of the Global Network for Human Rights and the Environment (GNHRE).
Her recent courses include Public International Law and European Union law. She had been Visiting Professor at Widener University Delaware Law School (October 2017 and June 2018), University of Salerno (September-December 2019) and University of Perugia (February-March 2020). She also taught at different universities of France, Romania, The Netherlands, and the United Kingdom as well as in the 2022 Summer/Winter School for Human Rights and the Environment (SHRE) organized by the GNHRE in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and with support from the University of Southampton Law School. She is Director of several Ph.D. theses prepared within the framework of international joint-supervision programs.
