Brief Bio
Full professor of Public International Law at Universitat de Barcelona, The outcomes of my research have resulted in the publication of 15 books, 45 articles in scientific journals and 53 chapters of books. I have been part of or led the research teams of 35 competitive research projects (13 as PI) and Holder of 2 Jean Monnet Chairs. Being my expertise in international law and EU law, my research focuses on the response of international law to climate change and the fragmentation of environmental legal regimes. This led me to extend my research to some areas such as Central Asia and the Arctic. From those angles, I have highlighted the legal developments linked to international environmental protection and climate change, the progress regarding the shift from the paradigm of sustainable development to environmental justice and the extent of the interactions between different international legal regimes applicable to or affecting the conservation of the environment. Visiting professor at Universities of Cagliari, Ottawa, Strathclyde, NSU, Puerto Rico, Lapland, American University, Dalhousie, and Montreal. External reviewer for specialised journals and member of expert panels for the evaluation processes of researchers and research projects.
