Brief Bio

Since 1999, I have been a full-time teacher in university education (associate professor since 2017). During this period, we carried out an intense scientific research activity in the field of physical geography and especially of the analysis of natural hazards. I have published a series of scientific papers (6 books, 58 articles in journals), being also involved in organizing international events and conferences (Geography, Environment and GIS for students and young researchers; Water resources and wetlands).

My PhD thesis was defended in 2008, at the Institute of Geography of the Romanian Academy, being in the field of natural hazard analysis. The subject was the Geographical study of natural hazards in the Getic Plateau: Olt-Dâmboviţa sector, the paper being published in 2009, at Valahia University Press, Târgovişte.

I have been involved in several research projects: Developing practical skills for the study of climate change (2020), Towards an in-depth knowledge of mountain vegetation through the use of remote sensing information and GIS techniques (2019), Expansion of infrastructure monitoring of background air pollution in correlation with the structure of grassland vegetation (2018), Development of experimental facilities and knowledge base for the study of grassland ecosystem (2017); Complex investigation of the unconsolidated sediments of Romanian Plain salt lakes (2017-2018); Paleoenvironmental studies in Romanian Plain using nuclear and related analytical techniques (2015-2016); Human Vulnerability to Environmental Change in the Mining Communities of Romanian Carpathians. Case study: the Jiu Valley ”(2007).

I am a member of the editorial staff (editor in chief) of the Annals of Valahia University of Targoviste - Geographical Series, but also a member of some professional associations in Romania (Romanian Geography Society - Dâmbovița branch - vicepresident; Romanian Limnogeography Association - Târgoviște branch - director) and vicepresident in the Central Commission of the National Geography Olympiad (2017-2019).
