Brief Bio

He has been employed at the Department of History, Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana since 2009, where he has been involved in teaching and research. He was habilitated as an assistant in 2011 and assistant professor for contemporary Slovene history in 2018. He is Head of the Centre for Public History at the Scientific Institute of the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Ljubljana.

Dr Peter Mikša publishes the results of his research on a regular basis, which is indicated by his bibliography, consisting of 520 works. Since 2016, he is a professional assistant of the Gornjesavski Museum of Jesenice, the Slovenian Alpine Museum unit, managing the field of mountaineering, alpinism and mountain cultural and material heritage. He is a member of the administrative board and head of the History of Sports Section of the Historical Association of Slovenia, as well as an invited member of Slovenska matica. He is a mountaineer, a mountaineering instructor, a rock-climbing instructor, a mountain guide, an orientation instructor. Since 2012, he has been a member (and a leader since 2018) of the Research Group of the Alpine Association of Slovenia (a secretary since 2014).
