Brief Bio

For more than 20 years he has been teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, implementing education and research projects on biodiversity conservation, community engagement, indigenous technologies, wetlands conservation, climate change and sustainable development in the Eastern Himalayan states of India. He began his career as a College Teacher and is currently working as an Associate Professor of Zoology in Assam Don Bosco University. He also worked in Centre for Environment Education as a Project Director where he implemented several Wildlife Conservation projects in the North Eastern Mountainous States of India. His publications includes 6 research papers in ISSN journal, 1 paper in a ISBN book, 6 co-authored ISBN books, 2 text books on environment for the Government Textbook board, 13 co-authored books and several popular articles. He is a regular resource person to several Universities in India and Higher Education Leadership Academy of Malaysia (AKEPT). He has delivered 6 international, 25 national and over 40 talks in All India Radio on various environmental issues. He is an Advisory Board member of Borneo Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities, Malaysia and an Editorial Board member of Journal of Contemporary Concern and Challenges in Education, NCERT, India. He was the CEE National Coordinator of National Green Corp Eco-club programme. Apart from his contribution to academics, he is also internationally known as a Wildlife Photographer.

He was awarded PhD by Gauhati University for his work on “Diversity status and conservation of Fishes in certain protected areas of Assam” in 2013.
