Brief Bio

I start working in the Faculty since 1997, graduating all stages from lecturer to full professor and since 2016 I am working as a Dean of the Faculty. Between 2012-2016 I was the CEO of the Department for Agricultural Sciences and Food Engineering and between 2000-2012 I headed the Division Montanology and Environmental Protection. At the university level I am member of the Senate since 2004. I am interested in developing and implementing best procedures and standards in research and higher education to improve academic visibility being involved for more than 12 years as a national expert for higher education evaluation.

As an agronomist my major focus areas are plant biotechnology and plant physiology and crops species diversity. Between 1990 and 1997 I headed the research laboratory for breeding sugar beet in the Research Station for Sugar Beet Brasov where I start working since 1986. I took part as a coordinator or as a team member in over 30 research projects funded by the Ministry of Education and Research or from international funds. I am the author of 49 scientific and educational books and chapters and more than 110 scientific articles published in peer reviewed journals.
