Agriculture and Forestry University
The Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU) is a public agricultural university with central offices in Rampur, Chitwan, Nepal. It was established in 2010 which is the first technical university in the country. The university aims at producing highly skilled human resources required to work on quality research and development in agriculture. It aims at all round development of agriculture, livestock, aquaculture and forestry which would raise the socio-economic conditions of rural people through quality teaching, research and extension. The mission of Agriculture and Forestry University is to produce competent manpower to promote education, research and development in agriculture, veterinary, fisheries, forestry and allied disciplines.
The university offers undergraduate, graduate and PhD programs in agricultural sciences from Faculty of Agriculture (FoA) and Faculty of Animal Sciences, Veterinary and Fisheries (FAVF), Rampur and undergraduate program in Forestry from Faculty of Forestry(FoF), Hetauda. The FoA and FAVF offers undergraduate degrees including a four-year B.Sc. Ag, five-year B.V.Sc. and A.H, four-year B.Sc. Fisheries, two-year Master programs in Agriculture, Animal Science, Veterinary Science and Aquaculture, and Ph.D. programs. In addition to its Bachelor of Forestry degree program, the Faculty of Forestry (FoF) offers a Master of Forestry degree and PhD.
Faculty of Forestry (FOF)
Faculty of Forestry (FOF)/AFU is conducting B. Sc., M. Sc. and Ph. D in Forestry program at Hetauda. Currently 80 students are enrolled each year in B. Sc. Forestry program at FOF making a full strength of 320 in four years. Average 30 students each year are in M. Sc. forestry totaling to 60 in two years. Ph. D. Forestry program has 3 students enrolled.
The faculty members of FOF are involved in different research and developmental activities with the support of national and international institutions and agencies. They focus their research works on biodiversity conservation, and local innovation adopting participatory approaches to enhance sustainable management of forest resources contributing researches to generate knowledge and technologies to address the issues of forestry in the country.
