Faculty of Hotel Management and Tourism in Vrnjačka Banja, University of Kragujevac
UFaculty of Hotel Management and Tourism was founded in 2011 as the youngest, twelfth member of the University of Kragujevac. It is the only state university of this type in the Republic of Serbia.
The Faculty of Hotel Management and Tourism in Vrnjačka Banja has been accredited for the undergraduate study programmes of Hospitality and Tourism, Health Tourism and Gastronomy Management, three master degree programmes - Hospitality Management, Tourism Management and Health Tourism, as well as for the PhD study programme in Hospitality and Tourism. The good practice of the leading European universities in the field of tourism and hospitality management was used as a basis for the development of study programmes.
In the field of scientific research, two benchmarks of the Faculty of Hotel Management and Tourism in Vrnjačka Banja are Journal of Hotel and Tourism Management and annually organized International scientific conference - Tourism in Function of Development of the Republic of Serbia. The Journal of Hotel and Tourism Management is published twice a year, in June and December, and publishes scientific and professional papers in English (http://www.htmanagementvb.com/index.php/HITM).
The International scientific conference - Tourism in Function of Development of the Republic of Serbia is organized by the Faculty of Hotel Management and Tourism in Vrnjačka Banja in co-organization with numerous domestic and foreign institutions, with the support by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia. The objectives of the Conference, refer to the consideration of various tourism-related aspects and impacts of tourism, as one of the world-leading industries, to the development of the countries. The basic idea is to systematise the effects of tourism on the economic, political, demographic, and social development by one multidisciplinary approach (http://www.tisc.rs/). Each year Conference results in two volumes of the Thematic Proceedings with scientific papers in English which are available to the wider scientific community (http://www.tisc.rs/proceedings/index.php/hitmc/issue/view/7).
The Faculty is located in Vrnjačka Banja – a well renowned Serbian spa – which attracts tourist for over 175 years. Vrnjačka Banja is often referred to as the “queen of the continental tourism” and it is considered to be a birthplace of the Serbian tourism.
