Naryn State Universityn .a.S. Naamatov (NSU) was established in 1996. The main activities: higher education and research. NSU, a comprehensive regional university, provides courses and programs leading to officially higher education degrees such as bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, and doctorate degrees in several areas of study. Currently, there are 3 professors, 23 associate professors, 5 Doctors of Science, more than 50 candidates of science and 142 lecturers are employed, in total there are 425 academic staff at NSU. The university has 4 faculties (Pedagogy; Agro-Technical Faculty; Philology and Economics, Business and Management); two academic Colleges (NarynAgro-Economic College and Naryn Pedagogical College) and there are two academic departments (Department of Master, Doctoral (Aspirantura) and Postdoctoral studies; and Academic distance learning department)

Currently, about 34 students are studying for doctoral studies (aspirantura) and do their research works on different areas: Agriculture /Horticulture / Institutional Economics – Land Management, Pasture Management, Forestry, Water issues, Transboundary natural resources and etc.; Economic and Financial Analysis; International relations; Education system issues and many others.
