Prof. Gabriela ȚIGU, a university Professor, is a member of the Department of Tourism and Geography within the Faculty of Business and Tourism, Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest. She is the Dean of the Faculty of Business and Tourism.
As a tourism expert in consulting projects, the themes of the projects (30 national and 6 international) Prof. Gabriela has covered so far include the development of online and face-to-face courses for tourism and the hospitality industry, market studies, studies for the development and promotion of tourism at the national level , regional or local, feasibility studies, business plans, studies on the ethics and social responsibility of companies, business models, public policies in tourism, tourism development, sustainability in tourism.
Between 2008 and 2012, she was the Head of the Tourism and Geography Department at Bucharest University of Economic Studies. From 2012 to 2016, Prof. Gabriela served as the Vice Rector for Education and Lifelong Learning. Since Sept 2019 , she has been the member of the World Committee on Tourism Ethics at United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Madrid, Spain. Since April 2020, she has been the Dean of the Business and Tourism Faculty at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies.
Since 2017, she is the Director of the Executive Education Program "Strategic Hospitality Management", organized in partnership by the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest and Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne, Switzerland, the best hotel school in the world, according to recent international rankings. Prof. Gabriela Țigu is also a tourism journalist and vice-president of the FIJET Romania Tourism Press Club; member of the Consultative Committee of the Romanian Competition Council, member of the Board of the Academic Association for Research in Tourism and Services CACTUS, member of the World Ethics Committee for Tourism, within the World Tourism Organization.
