Brief Bio

Biologist (Universidad Simón Boliviar, Venezuela) with a PhD in Ecology from the University of York (UK). Coordinator of the Adaptation at Altitude Programme in the Andes (CONDESAN-Swiss Development and Cooperation) and Full Professor at Universidad de Los Andes (Venezuela). With more than 80 publications, his research has focused on the analysis of ecosystem dynamics in the Tropical Andes, studying changes in vegetation diversity, structure and resilience in response to land use and climate change. He also works in the implementation of integrated strategies for climate change adaptation, monitoring, conservation and ecological restoration, emphasizing the use of transdisciplinary and participatory approaches. Regional Facilitator and Coordinator in Venezuela of the GLORIA-Andes and the Andean Forests Monitoring Networks and National Geographic Explorer.
