Brief Bio

Syed Hafizur Rahman has been involved in multidisciplinary environmental research since 1994-1995. His research interests have been on water-related climate change issues, climate change adaptation technologies, water resource management, abatement of water pollution, treatment of wastewater and surface water using EC technology. He has developed an interest in multidisciplinary research on complex issues relating to climate change and its effects on micro-environment. He has been researching vulnerability and impact assessment for climate change, ecosystem-based adaptation, and sustainable adaptation due to climate change. He is also doing research on land use and land cover changes (LULCC) using remote sensing and GIS techniques and their impacts on environment.

Professor Rahaman is a certified trainer in environmental sciences, climate change, disaster management, and pedagogy. He has training in teaching (ToT) Disaster Management and pedagogy. He has completed several projects on climate change and water integrity funded by local and international donor agencies. Moreover, he has implemented a World Bank-funded HEQEP subproject entitled ‘Improvement of Classroom and Laboratory-based teaching-learning facilities in the Department of Environmental Sciences, Jahangirnagar University’ Subproject Manager (2011-2012).

As a director of the Centre of Excellence in Teaching and Learning, Jahangirnagar University (CETL-JU), he has organized one ToT on Pedagogy and nine training workshops on tertiary pedagogy for newly recruited faculty members of Jahangirnagar University since 2017. He has also published more than a hundred scientific articles in national and international journals.
