The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) was established in 1961 under the auspices of USAID and technical assistance of Washington State University, Pullman. It is an internationally acclaimed university in Agricultural Sciences and the only University in the country which has the prestige of being ranked among the top 100 institutions in the world in Agricultural Sciences. The UAF has a proven track record of outreach and extension by using a combination of traditional and modern approaches. Farmers’ festivals and conventions, seminars and conferences, capacity building and professional development workshops, call centers, information portals, FM radio, plant clinics are some of the components of an integrated outreach system being carried out by the UAF.
The University has signed more than 184 MOUs for collaboration with international universities and 164 with in Pakistan. The University faculty, trained from world class universities, is engaged with the international community of scientists to mobilize resources through international competitive grants for collaborative research. The University faculty has completed 1623 research projects amounting to PKR 4531 M and 427 research projects of PKR 2068 M are currently ongoing. By enlarging its canvas, the University has initiated double degree programs with various universities of the world.

In order to make Pakistan a prosperous, food-secure and resilient nation, UAF aims at the following goals.
UAF comprises of seven faculties: Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences, Animal Husbandry, Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Social Sciences, Sciences and Food, Nutrition and Home Sciences. In addition, it has Centre for Advanced Studies in Agriculture and Food Security (CAS-AFS), Water Management Research Centre (WMRC), Centre of Agricultural Biochemistry and Biotechnology (CABB), Community College and three Sub-Campuses at Toba Tek Singh and Burewala and Depalpur. Current strength of faculty members of UAF is 667 including 505 holding PhD. UAF is offering 187- degree programs of agriculture relevance open nationally (52 undergraduate and 135 postgraduate programs). Currently, about 37000 students are enrolled in different programs, with about 60% female enrolment.
